Symposium Behavioral Neurology of the child in development
6 November, 2020
The symposium Child Psychiatry and Neuropsychology is organized on the occasion of the reissue of the Handbook Behavioral Neurology of the Child (2020, C. Njiokiktjien).
In 2004, Dr. Charles Njiokiktjien published Child Behavioral Neurology, Handbook for Neuropsychology, Neurology and Psychiatry, in which he described the most important insights of the 20th century. Child behavioral neurology has been completely rewritten with the aim of facilitating the search for up-to-date knowledge. This bulky monograph (1100 pages and approx. 3600 references) has a hybrid nature; In addition to developmental disorders, you can find many other clinically useful neuropsychological topics.
The question in the book and during the symposium is: Is knowledge of the neural dimensions and the foundation of functions and their disorders relevant to clinical work? This will be discussed during the symposium. In addition, scientific insights into development and developmental disorders in young children are discussed that are relevant for diagnosis and treatment. It promises to be an exciting symposium chaired by emeritus professor of child and adolescent psychology Jan Buitelaar and with leading speakers from the fields of psychiatry, neurology and (neuro)psychology.
